      Tammy Dockendorf

      4's Teacher/New Teacher Mentor/Staff & Family Relations

      Years in Education/Early Childhood: 18
      Years at DKH Academy: 15
      Education: BS degree in Communication Sciences (Deaf Ed., Speech Pathology & Audiology) and Early Education from TWU
      Experience: Taught at Primrose in Southlake and a Cooperative Preschool in Denton before coming to DKH Academy. Between internships, student teaching, summer camps, and a career, Mrs. Dockendorf has countless years of early childhood education under her belt. She enjoys teaching sign language to preschoolers as a second language and does her best to spark their natural sense of curiosity about the unknown.

      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Dockendorf is married with two grown sons who both attended DKH Academy. I enjoy swimming, board games, musicals, antiquing, reading children’s books, going to the theater, road tripping, playing with dogs, escape rooms, and scavenger hunts! I have a passion for writing and hope to become a published children’s author someday.

      Education: Bachelors of Science in Education from Texas A&M. Certified teacher K-8 with ESL certification.
      Experience: Retired Elementary school teacher after 20 years teaching 1st-4th grade.

      Hobbies and Family: Married with 3 grown children, two boys and a girl.  They all three graduated from college and are working in the Metroplex.  I have 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.  All 3 have or are attending DKH. I love dogs, bike riding, reading and Pilates.

      Teaching Style/Unique Quality: I believe children learn through play and exploration.  I love teaching new concepts by singing songs. I believe songs initiate love, belonging & happiness in the classroom.

      Education:Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Texas Tech University with a minor in English
      Experience: Taught 1st grade in Lubbock for 7 years before staying home with my first child. I went on to teach 4 year old preschool for another 7 years before moving to this area. I joined the DKH staff as an assistant in 2009 and began teaching my own 4’s class the following year. I absolutely love teaching this age!

      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Hedges has been married to her Husband Jamie since 1995. She has two children; Brett and Brynn. Mrs. Hedges love spending time with my family, traveling, boating, reading and watching baseball. She loves all things Texas Tech!

      Favorite Quote: Lessons on Kindness are just as important as academic ones.

      Teaching Style/Unique Quality: I think that all children can learn. It just may be in different ways and at different times. I strive to meet all my students where they are and help them reach their full potential. I think it is so important for my students to feel loved and accepted. In my classroom, we spend just as much time on social skills, kindness, manners and communication as we do academics. I want my students to feel like we are a family who learn from each other and support one another in a challenging and invigorating environment.

      Education: Undergraduate Degree: Finance; Masters Degree: Education
      Experience: This will be her 3rd year at DKH. Mrs. Hong did student teaching at Corinth Elementary.

      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Hong has 3 children. Her daughter, Jacqueline, is a Junior in High School, her son, Paul, is a 7th grader, and her youngest, Pierce, is in kindergarten. She loves to travel, watch movies, play tennis, eat lunch with friends and spend time with family.

      Teaching Style/Unique Quality: I love teaching through literacy. My ultimate goal is for every child to understand, comprehend, empathize, critically think, communicate and develop positive decision making skills. I also believe children learn through doing. I love that DKH is a play based school which promotes learning through play.

      Experience: DKH Academy, Boys & Girls Club and School age program at Sheppard Air Force Base

      Hobbies and Family: Spending time with family, swimming, boating, we love the beach & reading. Married with 2 fast growing boys that both attended DKH Academy!

      Years at DKH Academy: 3
      Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Tarleton State University, Certified in grades 1-8 with a minor in Physical Education and ESL certification
      Experience: Mrs. Nanny recently retired from Lewisville ISD after 29 years of teaching. She has teaching experience in first, second, and third grades.

      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Nanny is married and has one son.  On Friday nights, she can be found watching and cheering for the Argyle Eagles as her husband coaches the football team and teaches at Argyle High School.  On Saturdays, she travels to watch and cheer for her son as he plays college football for Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. Mrs. Nanny also enjoys walking, reading, and playing games with her family.

      Teaching Style/Unique Quality: Building relationships is so important! The children on my roster have been placed with me for a reason. Children bloom when they feel safe, comfortable, and confident in their surroundings. I strive to take a personal interest in each child and make every effort to provide a fun, “family” atmosphere daily.  We learn, play, and grow together!  As a result, our relationships last beyond the time we spend with each other in the classroom!

      Education: Graduated from Quakertown High School
      Experience: Ms. Debbie was a nanny for a teaching family who had 5 children for 12 years before joining DKH Academy. She assists in many areas and helps several teachers at DKH Academy. Ms. Debbie is the organization behind “the organization”.

      Hobbies and Family: Ms. Debbie is married to her high school sweetheart and has three grown daughters. She has 5 beautiful granddaughters. Ms. Debbie loves reading and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
