    • Melanie Brissette

      Melanie Brissette

      Years at DKH Academy: 6
      Education: BS from Florida State, MS degree in Social Work from UTA.
      Experience: Mrs. Brissette was a therapist specializing in early childhood disorders, family therapy, and behavior modification before coming to DKH Academy.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Brissette is married and has a son and daughter. Her son attended DKH Academy. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and yoga.

      Years at DKH Academy: 3
      Education: Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Master of Science in Special Education from Texas Christian University.
      Experience: Mrs. Callison has worked in private daycare, ESL Pre-K in Fort Worth ISD, and ESL Head Start in Plano ISD.
      Hobbies and Family: – Mrs. Callison has been married for 10 years, and has a first grader and a fourth grader in Spanish Immersion in LISD.  They love to travel as often as they can, especially to the beach, the mountains, and Disney!  They regularly spend time with extended family and friends, watch college sports, and basically live on the youth baseball fields for their kids’ games.

      Tamara Lisby

      Years in Education/Early Childhood: 2
      Years at DKH: 1
      Education: Bachelors of Science in Special Education from the University of Arkansas and Masters in Counseling Education from the University of North Texas graduating with honors.  She also has a certification in business from SMU.
      Experience: Mrs. Lisby worked in several different education facilities during her education helping children of all different learning levels gain success.  She became experienced helping children work from lower levels of aptitude to gain achievement in several different areas.   Mrs. Lisby loves to work with children of all levels and ages and is excited about her years ahead.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Lisby is married and has two children, Fox (10) and Fawn (4).  She enjoys anything that has to do with spending time with her family.  She also enjoys anything with animals.  She currently has three 4-legged babies at home.  Her favorite hobbies are sports (kids and professional), traveling all she can, and movie days with her family!

      Experience: Mrs. Holmgren was a stay at home mom for 10 years and spent years volunteering at her children’s school and working in their classroom.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Holmgren is married and has a son and a daughter. She loves to be outdoors, travel, and spend time with her family.

       

    • Elaine Rudebusch

      Elaine Rudebusch

      Years in Education/Early Childhood:  1
      Years at DKH Academy:  1
      Education: Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University, Certified teacher in English Language Arts/Reading/Social Studies grades 4-8.
      Experience:  Mrs. Rudebusch taught 9th grade English in College Station before moving to the metroplex in 2006.  She worked in Industrial Supply sales for 8 years, before becoming a stay at home mom when her daughter Gwen was 18 months old.  She is very excited to return to the education field, and utilize her teaching degree.
      Hobbies and Family:  Mrs. Rudebusch and her husband Ian met at Texas A&M, and have been married since 2007.  Her daughter Gwen was born in August of 2014, and attended DKH for the first time in 2016.  Mrs. Rudebusch enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking Gwen to dance and gym classes, working out, and attending Aggie football games.

      Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University
      Experience: Ms. Heckmann has an EC-8 and English as a Second Language (ESL) certification in Texas and Oklahoma. She’s had years of experience teaching all levels of English Language Learners both here in the United States and in Costa Rica. Her experience teaching early childhood ages and toddlers ranges from college to present. She has also taught 5th grade math/science and 1st grade in the public school setting before becoming a stay at home mom with her oldest daughter in 2012. She served on the DKH PTO for the 2016-2017 school year as Fundraising Co-Chair and remained active volunteering. Last year, she started teaching an ESL class for adults. She is excited to be back in the preschool classroom setting!
      Hobbies and Family: Ms. Heckmann has 2 daughters who currently both attend DKH. When she isn’t teaching, she enjoys going on outings with her daughters and husband. She can’t resist watching a good movie or favorite TV show! You can also find her working in her garden or enjoying the fresh evening air as the sun sets. She enjoys the gentle hum of a sewing machine while working on a quilt for someone special. Going to painting classes with her daughters is also a new favorite thing!

      Education: Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood from Texas
      Tech, M.Ed in Reading Education from Texas Woman’s University.
      Experience: Mrs. Lee has worn many hats regarding education. She previously taught elementary students in Lubbock and here in Highland Village at Heritage Elementary. She has served as an adjunct professor at TWU and taught student teachers how to teach reading, while also investing in the local schools in Denton ISD tutoring at-risk students. She currently teaches elementary art students part-time at Coram Deo Academy as well as mentors new teachers in LISD through their mentorship program. She has also served in Little Village at her church, The Village Church, for over 8 years and coached soccer through Upward and GLASA to preschool and elementary-aged children.
      Hobbies and Family: When she is not teaching at DKH, she home schools her oldest two children, Olivia (8) and Elijah (6) while the youngest, James (3), ransacks the house. All of her children have attended DKH for preschool and tells anyone who will listen about how much DKH has blessed her family! Her husband, Clay, is a fire captain in the Richardson Fire Department, as well as a paramedic and SWAT team medic. Mrs. Lee’s family attends The Village Church where they have been members for 14 years. She grew up in Highland Shores and attended McAuliffe Elementary the first year it opened! She loves to read, cook, craft, camp, ski, swim, and spend time with family and friends.

      Education:  Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY College at Oneonta and Master of Science in Special Education from Mount Saint Mary College Experience: Mrs. Howell taught 3 years as a middle/high school math teacher at New York Military Academy and 8 years for LISD at Degan Elementary school.
      Hobbies and Family:  Mrs. Howell and her husband Jared have three beautiful children: Leora (7), Gianna (5) and Jared (3). All of her children have attended DKH and she is excited to be part of the DKH team. She resigned from teaching in 2013 to raise her children. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, camping and cooking.

      Education: Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development.
      Experience: Mrs. Brown taught at a private school before coming to DKH Academy. Her mother taught at DKH Academy for many years while Mrs. Brown was a young child.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Brown is married and has three young children who all attend or have attended DKH Academy. She enjoys baking and decorating cakes.

      Years at DKH Academy: 12
      Education: BS in Early Childhood Education from Kent State, Certified EC-6th
      Experience: Mrs. Griffith taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades in both public schools and a private Catholic school in Ohio before becoming involved in the Curriculum and Development of a Multi-age Program. She went on to be one of the first teachers in the district to instruct students in a 1st/2nd grade classroom.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Griffith is married and has two grown sons and a daughter who attended DKH Academy. When she toured DKH as a prospective pre-school for her daughter, she knew it felt like home from the moment she stepped through the doors. Mrs. Griffith enjoys running, reading, and spending time watching her children participate in their respective sports.

      Experience: Ms. Robin volunteered many years at her children’s elementary and middle schools before coming to assist at DKH Academy. She spearheads DKH Academy’s Spirit Wear sale and is instrumental in planning the semi-annual Scholastic Book Fair.
      Hobbies and Family: Ms. Robin is married and has three grown children who all attended DKH Academy. She enjoys sewing, art, and cooking.

      Education: Bachelor of Music with a Teacher Certification from Midwestern State University
      Experience: Mrs. Nowell taught at Coppell Child Development Center as a 2’s teacher. She has been teaching theater at Studio B Performing Arts for the past 5 years.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Nowell enjoys theater, singing and cooking. Mrs. Nowell is from Nocona, Texas.

      Experience: Mrs. Porter taught eight years at a private preschool before joining DKH Academy in 1992. She is very experienced with child development and individualizing instruction for all types of learners.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Porter is married and has two grown daughters and one grandson. She enjoys gardening, sewing, and reading.

      Experience: Ms. Stephanie worked in both the public and private sectors as a training and development supervisor before joining DKH Academy. She has worked the last 6 years as an assistant for a wide range of classrooms, from toddlers to Pre-K.
      Hobbies and Family: Ms. Stephanie is married and has a son and daughter who both attended DKH Academy.   She loves sports and during most weekends can be found at a baseball field.

      Experience: Mrs. Sigler has experience teaching the 3 year old and 4 year old classes at DKH Academy. She lead the LEAP program for 2 years.

      Education: Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M in Psychology with a Journalism Minor in Public Relations. Currently, she is earning her Master’s in Education through UNT.
      Experience: Mrs. Coleman taught in a self-contained bilingual 4th grade classroom for two years. After her daughter turned two years old, she stepped into Early Childhood Education.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Coleman has been married to her college sweetheart, Chris, for 16 years. They have two great kids. Their daughter, Emily, is eleven and their son, Jack, is five. Creating fun memories with her family is her most favorite thing to do!

      Experience: Mrs. Turner student taught at Liberty Elementary 1st grade and has worked at several preschools and truly feels that early childhood education is her passion.
      She also home-schools her children.
      Hobbies/Family info: Mrs. Turner is married and has 3 children who currently attend DKH.
      She enjoys being outdoors, traveling, playing the guitar, and spending time with her family.

      Experience: Mrs. Goff spent her college years teaching at 2 local childcare facilities, and was a Substitute Teacher for LISD for 7 years.
      Hobbies and Family: Mrs. Goff is married and has two children, Austin (7) and Abigail (3). She loves to run and participate in local races. She also enjoys swimming, and spends her afternoons watching her son at Taekwondo and her daughter at Gymnastics.

      Cynthia enjoys traveling, entertaining, decorating, reading, and watching The Rangers &
      Cowboys.
